The boxing fans are having a great time this calendar year. There have been a ton of spectacular matchups inside the ring. Ryan Garcia surprised everyone when he beat Devin Haney last month. We got the world’s first undisputed Heavyweight champion in Oleksandr Usyk when he beat Tyson Fury in the ring.
Meanwhile, a user on X (formerly known as Twitter) pointed out some stark similarities between the Ukranian great and late legend Muhammad Ali.
Oleksandr Usyk the new Muhammad Ali?
Coming from a country at war, it was not easy for the Ukrainian great to climb the boxing world ladder. But Usyk became the first undisputed Heavyweight champion in the four-belt era of boxing. Meanwhile, Oleksandr Usyk is now the undisputed champion in Cruiserweight and Heavyweight. It’s only fair that Usyk is compared to some of the boxing greats of the past. A user on X highlighted the major similarities on his social media handle between the boxing legend and Usyk.
Ali and Oleksandr were born on the same day, the seventeenth of January. The duo stands six feet and three inches tall, reaching seventy-eight inches inside the ring. Usyk and Ali have won gold at the Olympic games and the undisputed Heavyweight championships of the world in the past.
Muhammad Ali is often considered the greatest boxer to grace the planet. The man fought battles in the ring and worked to eradicate racism. Usyk’s country, Ukraine, has been at war for quite some time now, and it certainly is not a menial task to hail from a place like Ukraine and try to achieve big things in the boxing world.
Oleksandr Usyk has beaten all his significant opponents inside the boxing ring in the past few years. Many claimed a rematch clause in his contract with Tyson Fury. It will be interesting to see if Usyk beats the gypsy king again in the ring and emerges victorious.
