Gervonta Davis is a three-time world champion, and in two weight classes, having held the WBA lightweight title since 2019, and previously the IBF super featherweight title in 2017 and the WBA super featherweight title from 2018 to 2019.
His record currently stands at 23-0, but that all changed on Tuesday when he tried unsuccessfully to throw shots at Ryan Garcia.
Ryan Garcia is a fresh-faced 21-year-old undefeated professional boxer and he’s not only quick with his hands, but quick with his comebacks as well.
Sports Illustrated recently ran a story about Garcia’s displeasure with Golden Boy and DAZN where he felt insulted by the money he was offered to fight on July 4.
“Why am I being held back financially?” said Garcia to Sports Illustrated. “What is the problem here? Why is DAZN giving out big numbers to guys fighting nobodies? It’s fu—ed up how I’m being treated. I’m not asking for $100 million. Just give me the check I deserve.”
Davis saw the story and took aim at Garcia on Twitter.
“200k??????” read Davis’s Tweet. “He need [sic] that money back from him buying that Ferrari…stop trying to keep up broke boy!”

Bad move, because Garcia came back and knocked him out with his response.
“Yeah I get endorsement deals outside of boxing, something you don’t know about bc you hit woman [sic].”
Hopefully, all of this back and forth leads to a fight between the two. It will surely be the biggest pay day that either one of them has seen.
