Ryan Garcia has reportedly tested positive for a banned performance-enhancing drug following his win over Devin Haney.
According to journalist Dan Rafael, who cites sources, Garcia underwent two tests by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association and was found to have Ostarine on both tests while one of them came back positive for 19-Norandrosterone, which is also banned, though the latter hasn’t been confirmed.
ESPN’s Mike Coppinger reports that Garcia has 10 days to request testing of his B-sample and that other boxers have been suspended for Ostarine in the past.
Ostarine is listed as an anabolic agent by the World Anti-Doping Agency and is not approved for human use in the United States, per the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Garcia, 25, has since denied using PEDs, claiming he wouldn’t even know where to get steroids.

The test results were disclosed to Haney’s camp, per Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix.
“You trying to hurt my baby. We played it fair. We didn’t do it like that,” Devin’s father, Bill Haney, told Mannix. “F- boxing, this is some bull S-. I came from the streets. You scared of Devin on a level playing field. I feel F- d up over this. If you can brag about doing it, you shouldn’t be on drugs.”
Garcia defeated Haney via majority decision on April 20, but the latter kept his WBC junior welterweight belt because Garcia missed weight.
This latest development is sure to make things even more tense between the fighters, who have a long-running feud and legitimately hate each other.
As mentioned above, Garcia has denied using PEDs, but boxing fans will eagerly await the outcome of this freshly-opened saga.
