Oscar Valdez is a former two-division boxing world champion. The Mexican competes in the featherweight and super featherweight divisions. As of now, he boasts a record of 31-2 with 23 knockout victories.
Valdez was last seen inside the squared circle against Emanuel Navarrete. The WBO super featherweight title fight took place back in August last year at the Desert Diamond Arena in Arizona. However, he ended up losing the fight via unanimous decision in what was his second loss in his last three fights.
As of now, Oscar Valdez is set to return to the squared circle this weekend against Liam Wilson. Ahead of the fight, we will take a look deeper look into his coach and if he trains with Mexican boxing Icon, Canelo Alvarez. Valdez used to train under Manny Robles for a long time before returning to Eddy Reynoso in August 2018.
Valdez made this switch because he wanted to tighten his defense. For those unaware, Eddy Reynoso is well known for training Canelo Alvarez and has been in his corner since his early boxing days. That said, it’s safe to assume that it is a valuable addition to Valdez’s camp as he gets to train alongside one of the greatest boxers of this generation.
