Oleksandr Usyk claimed the undisputed heavyweight championship with a split-decision win over Tyson Fury in their much-anticipated bout earlier this month. One judge scored the fight 114-113 in favor of Fury but was outweighed by scores of 114-113 and 115-112 in favor of Usyk. Both fighters have agreed to a rematch, and Alex Krassyuk, promoter of Oleksandr Usyk, has responded to Tyson Fury’s hints about the rematch on Instagram.
Oleksandr Usyk’s Promoter Alex Krassyuk Addresses Tyson Fury’s Rematch Tease
Alex Krassyuk, Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter, commented on Tyson Fury’s recent Instagram post about their upcoming rematch. Fury was in the gym today in preparation for the December 21st fight against Usyk. Krassyuk’s comment on Fury’s post humorously suggested, “Bro, let’s have a beer.”
As announced by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, on Wednesday. The heavyweight championship rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk has been scheduled for December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The fight was initially part of a two-fight deal with a planned rematch on October 12. But it has been postponed to the end of 2024. Former WBC champion Fury was ahead in the fight before Usyk knocked him down in the ninth round.
The bout was notably intense, with Fury enduring 14 consecutive punches in Round 9 and suffering the eighth knockdown of his career. Usyk appeared at the post-fight press conference with stitches and significant swelling around his eyes. Quickly agreed to the rematch scheduled for December.
However, uncertainties remain about whether the undisputed title will be contested again. Fury seeks to avenge his defeat, while Usyk aims to defend his title in what promises to be a highly anticipated rematch in boxing.
