American boxer Ryan Garcia has been suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission for one year after he tested positive for a banned substance. Garcia had previously defeated Devin Haney by majority decision on April 20, 2024, handing Haney his first career loss.
However, the commission’s decision also overturns Garcia’s victory, changing it to a no-contest and restoring Haney’s undefeated record of 31–0. With Haney seeking a rematch but unable to do so due to Garcia’s suspension, UFC content creator Nina Marie Daniele has proposed an alternative battle for the two.

Reacting to Ryan Garcia’s one-year suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission, Haney has announced on social media his plans to take an extended break from boxing to travel and enjoy his earnings. He hinted that he might not consider returning to the ring until Garcia’s suspension ends.
Meanwhile, Nina Marie Daniele, commenting on Garcia’s Instagram post, proposed an unconventional solution to settle their rivalry. She suggested a dance-off or rap battle against Haney since traditional boxing matches are not an option for Garcia during his suspension. She wrote, “Since you can’t fight for a year, let’s get a dance-off or rap battle against Haney!”
In April, Garcia achieved a stunning upset by knocking down Haney three times, handing the undefeated WBC super lightweight champion his first career loss. Despite accusations of using prohibited substances, Garcia maintains his innocence, stating he has not used any banned substances. With a one-year suspension imposed on him now, only time will reveal what lies ahead for his career.
