Ryan Garcia’s world changed upside down after he tested positive for Ostarine, a banned substance. With the doping violation, the New York State Athletic Commission overturned Garica’s victory over Devin Haney into a No Contest.
Devin Haney suffered one of the most beatings of his professional career against Garcia, who knocked him down multiple times. Even though Garica now faces a one-year suspension, there is a case for a rematch between the two.
Ryan Garcia’s Tweet on Haney Rematch Divides Boxing Fans
Ryan Garcia has become one of the most viral boxers in history. He has been extremely vocal, posting offensive and sensitive tweets on social media. His tweets don’t often make much sense, and his recent tweet about a Haney rematch certainly didn’t make sense for many.
“Okay Devin [Haney] I forgive you. Let’s run it back. Love wins #biggestfightinboxingrememebr,” tweeted Garcia on X. The tweet received mixed reception from fight fans. Some sided with Garcia, citing Haney won’t fight him due to fear. Others sided with Haney, citing Garcia’s weight miss and doping violation.
Haney has been on cloud nine since the NYSAC overturned the only loss in his professional boxing career, making him undefeated. Garcia rematch is not something Haney has to worry about now, considering he will likely face Sandor Martin next.
Garcia had angled for a rematch with Gervonta Davis before the NYSAC suspended him. Due to the rehydration clause controversy, many consider a rematch between Garcia and Davis more monetary value and hype than the one with Garcia and Haney.
