Women’s Algerian Boxer Imane Khelif has taken over headlines after making Italian boxer Angela Carini quit 46 seconds into the match after two punches.
Many online have claimed that Khelif is a transgender woman despite never identifying as such and having always competed in women’s events. Even big-time celebrities and athletes have joined in on the conversation, including Logan Paul.
“This is the purest form of evil unfolding before your eyes. A man was allowed to beat up a woman on a global stage, crushing her life’s dream while fighting for her deceased father. This delusion must end,” Paul wrote in a deleted tweet.
However, after more information about the situation surfaced, Paul released a new statement admitting he was wrong.
“I might be guilty of spreading misinformation along with the entirety of this app. Although she’s been previously disqualified for failing a “gender test” and has XY chromosomes, some sources say Imane Khelif was born a biological woman. I stand by my sentiment that biological men should not compete against biological women in any sport and if you disagree you’re a sick fuck,” wrote Paul

Imane Khelif Will Continue To Compete For a Gold Medal
Khelif will stay in the tournament despite many calling for her to be disqualified due to tests revealing that she was once disqualified from the World Championships for having XY chromosomes. On the other hand, many have come to support Khelif.
“Isn’t it interesting how at the 2020 Olympics, when Imane Khelif lost to Kellie Harrington in the quarterfinals, literally no one accused her of being a man,” wrote @Algeria_FC on X.
After defeating Carini in the preliminary rounds, she has officially advanced to the semifinals and is set to take on Luca Anna Hamori of Hungary.
