The boxing world is knee-deep in prayers.
Larry Merchant, the famed HBO boxing commentator and journalist, has reportedly been rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
TMZ Sports added Merchant was taken to the hospital at 6 pm on Thursday, although the exact cause of the emergency has not been reported yet.
Merchant is widely known for his long and esteemed career covering the sport of boxing. He is recognized for his candid and sometimes confrontational interviewing style, and he is a prominent figure in the world of boxing journalism.
Larry retired from HBO in 2012, but he cast a long shadow and is still remembered for his broadcasting skills.
Merchant worked as a ringside commentator for HBO’s boxing coverage for many years, providing analysis and commentary on numerous high-profile boxing matches.
