KSI later toned down his commentary, suggesting Deji should start fighting more challenging opponents and stop with the warm-up matches. It’s the kind of tough love that only siblings can genuinely pull off – part mockery, part genuine coaching.
Deji himself seemed painfully aware of his shortcomings. In an interview with DAZN, he candidly admitted he should have knocked out Savage in the first round. Weight issues and a lengthy 18-month layoff clearly impacted his performance. He came into the fight 10 pounds heavier than his opponent, which didn’t exactly scream “peak athletic condition.”
