Joe Rogan has never been one to shy away from controversy. His latest hot take has divided combat sports fans as he made a spirited defense of Jake Paul’s boxing skills. The YouTuber-turned-boxer has found an unlikely ally in Rogan.
Rogan’s support comes as Paul gears up for his most high-profile bout yet: a showdown with the legendary Mike Tyson. The UFC commentator isn’t buying into the critics’ comments. He is adamant that Paul has genuine boxing chops, as he revealed in his recent JRE podcast.
“I think he’s like any other up-and-coming boxer. Everybody dismisses him [Jake Paul] because he’s a YouTuber.”
Jake Paul’s boxing career has been unconventional, to say the least. He’s faced off against retired MMA fighters, ex-NBA players, and fellow YouTubers. It’s not exactly a murderer’s row of boxing talent.
Yet, Rogan sees something in Paul’s technique that many critics miss. He praised the young boxer’s dedication and rapid improvement. He has shown flashes of real talent in the ring. His knockout of Tyron Woodley was no joke, and his recent KO of Mike Perry was an absolute beauty.

The UFC commentator has once again stirred the pot in the combat sports world. This time, he’s weighing in on the upcoming spectacle between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. He has some strong opinions on both fighters as he revealed his thoughts on Tyson’s chances against the young Paul.

‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion of the world, is 58 years old, an age when most folks are considering early bird specials and retirement communities. In the other corner is Jake Paul, the 27-year-old YouTuber turned boxer. He is young enough to be Tyson’s son. But Joe Rogan is adamant of Tyson’s chances against the young boxer.
“He’s [Mike Tyson] is perfectly capable of [knocking Paul out]. If he zigs when he should’ve zagged and if Mike can close the distance in a way he cannot expect… And Mike also has layers upon layers of attacks in his mind. He’s forgotten more about boxing than Jake Paul has ever remembered,” said Rogan via the same JRE podcast.
Joe Rogan pointed out that Tyson still possesses that legendary knockout power he was once known for. But this isn’t the Mike Tyson of old. This is Mike Tyson, who was recently in a wheelchair and is eligible for senior discounts. But again, this is Mike Tyson. His one punch is all it takes to send anyone into the shadow realm.
