The boxing world is in for a treat as YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul gears up to meet Mike Perry inside the squared circle this weekend. Perry replaces Mike Tyson, who was initially slated to face the younger Paul sibling but was forced to withdraw due to medical reasons.
Set to go down at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on July 20, Paul vs. Perry is scheduled for eight rounds.
Paul, who is on a two-fight finishing streak, both in the first round, will hope to replicate his recent success against Perry, a former UFC fighter turned bare-knuckle savant, on fight night. ‘Platinum’ has undoubtedly become the face of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship thanks to his gritty wins against the likes of former UFC champions such as Eddie Alvarez and Luke Rockhold among others. However, plying his trade in the squared circle against a bigger and more experienced boxer won’t be an easy task. With impressive victories over Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva, Paul has also displayed his mettle in boxing.
According to CBS Sports, Paul is a -420 favorite going into the fight. Perry, who is five years older, is a +360 underdog. With Perry coming off a finish of Thiago Alves at BKFC: Knucklemania IV and Paul coming off the quick finish over Ryan Bourland, fight fans are in for a treat. Additionally, according to speculations, the bout against Paul will be Perry’s biggest payday.
