Jake Paul’s boxing trainer BJ Flores is lucky to still be alive after getting shot during a robbery attempt while vacationing in Medellin, Colombia.
Flores, a former boxer, revealed he was in the passenger seat of a vehicle this Friday while waiting on a green light when a motorcycle carrying two armed men pulled up alongside him. One of the men pointed a gun at his forehead and tried to steal his belongings.
They “tried to steal my wallet and my watch,” he said in an Instagram post. “They shot me one time in the leg and I defended myself the best way I could.”
The trainer, 44, has been working with Paul since 2021. He boxed professionally from 2003-2018 and owns an impressive 34-4-1 record. He met the YouTuber after retiring, participating in sparring sessions with him before becoming his full-time trainer.
As luck would have it, Flores got away and was rushed to the emergency room, where he was told the bullet was still in his thigh. He should have undergone surgery to remove the projectile from the limb by now.
Flores made a video detailing his injuries prior to going under the knife. He could be seen nursing a lump to the head, a cut on his hand, and a wound to his leg. He is of the view that the attack was not random and he was specifically targeted by the gunmen.
