After twenty-five years, the heavyweight division found its undisputed king. Oleksandr Usyk became the undisputed champion in the four-belt era after beating the six-foot-nine-inch-tall Tyson Fury. Since arriving in the heavyweight division from cruiserweight, Usyk has taken on the most dangerous fighters and has beaten guys like Anthony Joshua, Dubois, and now Tyson Fury. Now, the world is wondering if Usyk is the greatest heavyweight boxer.
Oleksandr Usyk has now beaten almost every prominent fighter in his boxing divisions. There is no one whom Uysk took on in the ring and did not beat.
Oleksandr Usyk: The Crown prince of boxing
The Ukrainian great is now the undisputed champion in two different weight divisions in the boxing world, a feat not achieved by many worldwide. The undisputed champion, who stands at a much more humble six feet three inches tall in the Heavyweight division, has won the WBO, WBC, WBA, IBF, and the Ring championships of the world in both the Cruiserweight and the Heavyweight divisions in the boxing world.
Many would agree that Oleksandr Usyk completed boxing as he won every possible title and beat every major opponent in two divisions. Usyk is slated to give Fury a rematch after his victory. Many would assume that the Ukranian, who comes from a war-torn region, is the greatest fighter pound for pound in the world at the current moment. In the division where greats like Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson dominated, is it fair to say Usyk is the greatest Heavyweight of all time?
As great as Usyk is, many will still not be convinced to call the undisputed champion of the world the greatest Heavyweight. Usyk has been in twenty-two professional fights and won all of them, but the heavyweights from the older generation were different. It was common for a boxer to be in more than fifty fights and win most of them. Even after Usyk’s shenanigans and achievements inside the ring, it is still difficult to say that the Ukranian is the greatest Heavyweight boxer ever.
