One of the most gifted athletes in combat sports is Devin Haney. At age 21, he was already a lightweight world champion. He trained at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, where Mayweather was pleased with the boxer’s conditions.

Though they don’t know one other, super lightweight talents Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia are related to the late Floyd Mayweather, the five-weight world champion. Devin came in touch with Mayweather during a training session and has grown closer since.
Floyd Mayweather and Haney first connected in a virtual training session in 2020. Haney had always been a Mayweather fan and wanted to train under “TBE.”
Haney has been around Mayweather on and off since he was young. On April 20, he will defend his WBC super lightweight title against Garcia. The two boxers’ techniques share similarities, strongly emphasizing defence, footwork, and counterpunching.

Devin had some training sessions with Floyd Mayweather. The two had talked numerous times, and Devin also trained at Floyd’s gym and got boxing advice from him.

During an interview with the WBC’s website, Devin said, “I’ve had some training sessions with Floyd. We’ve talked numerous times and I’ve trained in his gym and gotten a lot of advice from him. I’m grateful for that,”
The two spent much time together following their initial in-person training session, with Haney paying close attention to Mayweather’s advice and lessons.
Given the type of boxing career “TBE” had, it was inevitable that other fighters would shower him with affection.
He quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his excellent boxing abilities. And with that, “Pretty Boy” gave hope to a new wave of warriors. Devin Haney was one of the fighters on that list.
