Recently, boxing champion Ryan Garcia criticized public speaker and debater Mohammed Hijab following a controversial interview. Hijab, whose notoriety has significantly grown, was the subject of Garcia’s Islamophobic comments. As a result, Garcia has been expelled from the WBC by Sulaiman. This controversy arose before Garcia’s matchup against Devin Haney, further fueled by his weight miss and inflammatory remarks on X Space, where he made several derogatory statements about Muslims and Black people.
Ryan Garcia Issues Apology Following WBC Expulsion and Rehab Admission
Following his WBC ban, Ryan Garcia apologized for his offensive comments and announced he would enter rehab. On Friday, Garcia issued a series of social media posts apologizing for using racial slurs against Black people and making disparaging remarks about Muslims during a livestream on X. His regret over these comments led him to address the issue again on X.
He wrote, “Also to the Muslim community and all my homies that are Muslims, my bad. I let sneako get in my head from when he talked shit about the Holy Spirit and everyone telling me Christian’s let the disrespect slide. I love Muslim people I don’t believe yall are pedo’s. I do believe there is pedo’s in every religion bc men and humans are flawed and I don’t stand with non of that. I’ve always defended gold hearted Muslims and have actually tried to help. My bad 🙁 INSHALLAH btw that means God willing.“
Ryan Garcia later expressed his love and support for Black people. He also disclosed that he is entering rehab to address his addiction issues. Last month, Garcia was suspended for a year by the New York State Athletic Commission, which also declared his April 20 victory over Devin Haney a no-contest due to a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs. Garcia’s future remains uncertain, and only time will reveal his outcome.
