Canelo Alvarez took on Jamie Munguia last night. The Mexican went up against his countryman Jamie Munguia in an attempt to defend his undisputed super middleweight title in what was his 65th professional fight.
The highly anticipated fight occurred during the Cinco de Mayo weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the T-Mobile Arena. As one would assume going into the fight, the undisputed super middleweight champion emerged as a considerable favorite to retain the title.
And he did exactly that. Canelo Alvarez was able to get the better of Jamie Munguia. He dropped his opponent with a vicious uppercut in the fourth round. However, he failed to stop Munguia.
Having dominated Munguia for the majority of the fight, Canelo won the bout via unanimous decision. In the process, he retained his undisputed super middleweight title and also walked away with a hefty paycheque of around $35 million.
