Canelo Alvarez triumphed over Caleb Plant to win 16 world titles. Canelo, whose real name is Santos Saul Alvarez Barragan, is a professional Mexican boxer who has won several world championships in four different weight classes, from light middleweight to light heavyweight. He has held unified titles in three of those weight classes and lineal crowns in two.
With titles from 2020 in Ring magazine, the World Boxing Council (WBC), the World Boxing Association (WBA) (Super version), the International Boxing Federation (IBF), and the World Boxing Organization (WBO), since 2021, Álvarez is the first and only boxer in history to become the undisputed champion at super middleweight.
Alvarez’s Last Fight And His Professional Boxing Record
The pound-for-pound hero became one of the few fighters in the modern age to unify all four main world belts at super-middleweight when he defeated Caleb Plant in November 2021. It was an incredible performance.
On September 30, 2023, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez squared off against Jermell Charlo in a much-awaited fight in which Alvarez successfully defended his four super middleweight titles via unanimous decision.
In contrast, Charlo was making his first appearance in the 168-pound weight class as the undisputed junior middleweight champion. This fight was Alvarez’s third successful defence of his undisputed title in the super middleweight division.
Canelo Alvarez has fought 64 fights, out of which 60 fights he has won, with 39 wins via KO; he has lost two fights and two draws.
