Ryan Garcia upset the odds last night with his performance against Devin Haney. The two locked horns inside the square circle at the Barclay’s Center.
Having fought each other six times during their amateur days, there was a lot of anticipation surrounding their fight. Moreover, going into their seventh fight, Haney emerged as a big favorite.
However, the fight didn’t go as planned for Devin Haney. Ryan Garcia started on the front foot and seemingly hurt Haney in the opening round. But after failing to put away Haney early, Garcia was on the back foot as ‘Dream’ started to dominate.
While it looked like Haney would cruise through a victory, Garcia was able to hurt his opponent in the later rounds and secured a shock knockdown. Interestingly, he knocked down Haney a total of three times in the fight.
As a result, Garcia was able to secure a majority decision victory in what was one of the biggest upsets in recent boxing history.
