Despite his undefeated status, Davis has faced several top-level opponents in his career, including Ryan Garcia and Isaac Cruz. Recently, Davis has expressed openness to rematching both Garcia and Cruz in the future.
Gervonta Davis Teases Thrilling Rematches with Ryan Garcia and Isaac Cruz
Gervonta Davis has expressed interest in rematching both Ryan Garcia and Isaac Cruz. Regarding a potential rematch with Garcia, Davis said they will “probably fight again,” and he is open to the fight happening at 140 pounds rather than the 145-pound catchweight that Garcia had proposed. Davis made these comments during an appearance on the Cigar Talk podcast.
Davis has previously faced both fighters and expressed interest in a rematch. When Davis was scheduled to defend his title against the undefeated former WBA interim lightweight champion Rolando Romero, Romero was pulled from the bout due to sexual assault allegations and replaced with Isaac Cruz on short notice.
Davis won unanimously in a closely contested fight, with the judges scoring it 115-113, 115-113, and 116-112 in his favor. Gervonta Davis also knocked out Ryan Garcia in the seventh round with a body shot to Garcia’s right abdomen, causing Garcia to take a knee while clutching his side.
Commentators praised the fight. Davis, an undefeated three-division world champion, is set to face the undefeated rising star Frank Martin, who aims to dethrone the champion. Although a rematch is not yet confirmed, fans may see it.
