The lightweight unification fight between Gervonta Davis and Vasily Lomachenko is reportedly being negotiated for November. Coach Kenny Ellis of Gervonta “Tank” Davis disclosed that he is starting to get ready for his fighter’s upcoming showdown against IBF lightweight champion Lomachenko.
Vasyl Lomachenko successfully defended his title as the best in the lightweight division by stopping George Kambosos in the 11th round in Perth, Australia. The victory also earned the Ukrainian boxer a vacant IBF world lightweight title, solidifying his place among the best in the division.
Will Gervonta Davis Fight Vasyl Lomachenko?
According to Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, Vasyl Lomachenko and Gervonta Davis are reportedly in talks to fight one other next. The two have been connected for a boxing match for many years, but it has never worked out.
Gervonta Davis, who defeated Frank Martin by knockout over the weekend, is already anticipating his next match.
The 29-year-old impressed in defending his WBA lightweight championship, and fans are already curious about his next opponent because he has several viable options.
But Arum is “optimistic” that the fight can finally occur “sometime in November” after talks with Davis’ PBC representatives were reopened after his thrilling eighth-round knockout victory over Frank Martin on Saturday night.

However, not everyone is happy about the news, as Paulie Malignaggi, a former world champion, maintains that Davis should be facing Stevenson because he is still extremely young.
Although it makes sense for Davis to fight Lomachenko, the IBF champion, in a unification match, supporters still hope he will face Stevenson, the WBC champion.
But if Davis triumphs over the Ukrainian, the Stevenson match might be a three-belt fight.
