Regardless of how his bout with Anthony Joshua turns out, Francis Ngannou is dedicated to the boxing sport. In a much-awaited 10-round fight at Kingdom Arena on Friday, the former UFC heavyweight champion will make his second appearance in the ring against Joshua, a former unified heavyweight champion and one of the most well-liked boxers in the world.
In October of last year, Ngannou made his boxing debut against Tyson Fury, the holder of the WBC heavyweight title. In a split decision loss, Ngannou pushed Fury to the edge and dropped “The Gypsy King” in the third round. Most combat sports commentators were taken aback by Ngannou’s victory over Fury, which also made “The Predator” eligible for further massive earnings against contenders like Anthony Joshua.
Francis Ngannou Boxing History And When Does He Want To Retire
Francis Ngannou, a 37-year-old boxer, is only rising to prominence. But his path to the ring began much earlier than the October victory over WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Ngannou shocked his detractors and disregarded expectations even though he was defeated in that bout on a split decision.
Since he was in Cameroon, Ngannou has always wanted to fight a heavyweight of the highest calibre, and this will be his second consecutive matchup.
Ngannou made contact with Tyson Fury in April 2022 after the Englishman’s bout with Dillian Whyte. This came after he had quit the UFC due to disagreements over an unpaid contract.
