Floyd Mayweather retires and un-retires more than Brett Favre.
Just 24 hours after Floyd Mayweather stated he was done with the sport of boxing because he was more focused on his health, the former five division world champion took to social media to announce that he’s coming out of retirement in 2020.
“I’ve got calls to get back into the ring, but my health is my wealth,” Mayweather told Reuters on Tuesday. “Boxing is a very, very brutal sport. In the last few years a lot of fighters have died inside that squared circle. You have got to know when to hang it up. I had a great career.”
I don’t know what happened, but he clearly reversed course and changed his mind completely on Thursday night.
Mayweather retired from the sport back in 2017 after he fought MMA fighter Conor McGregor in a mega-bout that generated over 4 million buys on pay-per-view.
The last time the 42-year-old fought in the ring was on New Year’s Eve when he took on a Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan. He made easy work of him in just one round.

“I’ll still travel and do exhibitions. I make great money doing exhibitions — between $10 and $30 million,” Mayweather said. “I think I make more doing that than most fighters make fighting.”
