Floyd Mayweather Jr. has reportedly agreed to fight a former UFC Champ.
UFC featherweight champion José Aldo will meet him in the ring in an exhibition fight this year.
“His side has already agreed, my side too,” Aldo told MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz on Friday. “We’re now waiting for [the promoters] to get the deal done.”
Aldo brought his MMA career to a close in August after a unanimous-decision loss to bantamweight title contender Merab Dvalishvili. He retired from the sport later in the year and made the switch to boxing in 2023.
Before they meet, Mayweather is scheduled to oppose reality television star and former MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers on Feb. 25th. This will be his sixth exhibition since retiring as a professional boxer.
Aldo is fresh off his pro boxing debut Friday and won a unanimous decision over Emmanuel Zambrano.

Mayweather may be done boxing professionally, but has turned his series of exhibitions into a lucrative enterprise. The 45-year-old can expect to cash another big paycheck if he and Aldo hammer out an official contract.
