Naoya Inoue successfully retained his IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO super bantamweight titles after knocking out Ye Joon Kim. Originally, Sam Goodman was scheduled to face ‘The Monster,’ but after an injury, Kim stepped in on short notice. Despite the change, the fight lived up to expectations, and now fans are calling for the Japanese fighter to compete outside of Japan.
From the beginning, Ye Joon Kim seemed frozen, which allowed Naoya Inoue to quickly take control and corner him. By the second round, Inoue was landing powerful right hands on Kim’s head and body, with Kim struggling to keep up. Despite swelling under his eye, Kim tried to throw some combinations in the third, but they had little impact. In the fourth, a sharp left counter from Inoue marked the turning point.
Kim, still determined, urged Inoue to come forward, which proved to be a mistake. Inoue responded with a brutal right hand that sent Kim crashing to the canvas and almost out of the ring. Despite the one-sided action, fans still found the fight thrilling and are now calling for Inoue to fight outside of Japan. One fan even commented, “Needs to fight outside of Japan now.”
