Mike Tyson had two fights on his hands this weekend, one that was scheduled and another one that suddenly popped up.
A fan reportedly threw a punch at Mike Tyson following the boxer’s exhibition fight with Roy Jones Jr. on Saturday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
TMZ Sports reported the person started trash-talking toward Tyson while he was signing autographs outside the arena after the bout, but then he escalated things by taking a swing at the former heavyweight champion.
“… and then proceeded to reach into his waistband, as if trying to pull out a weapon. Our sources say Mike’s team jumped in right away before things got ugly.”
Tyson’s team had intervened, having recognized the man from a previous event where he tried similar tactics, per TMZ. Police responded to the scene but everyone had left the venue, so no report was filed.
Glad the champ was unharmed.
