The much-anticipated showdown between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol is scheduled for October 12, with the two set to battle for the undisputed light heavyweight championship at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Recently, Eddie Hearn made a bold claim, expressing a strong belief that Bivol will outbox the knockout machine Beterbiev to claim victory.
Matchroom promoter Hearn is confident that his fighter, Dmitry Bivol, has a solid chance of defeating Artur Beterbiev. However, Hearn acknowledged that the fight will be a tough challenge for the 33-year-old. In a recent interview on Fight Hub TV’s YouTube channel, Hearn discussed what Bivol must do to secure a victory over Beterbiev. He stated,
“Bivol is the kind of guy that is intelligent enough to do that four 12 rounds. He’s still very dangerous. There’s not many that can, but he can [defeat Beterbiev]. “When you look at what he did against Canelo, and you are talking about one of the greatest fighters of all time. He [Bivol] won that fight quite comfortably, but Beterbiev is a monster,”
Matchroom Boxing promoter also pointed out that Artur Beterbiev is a more advanced fighter than Canelo, possessing superior skills and stamina. He emphasized that the fight is a 50-50 matchup, as both fighters bring an elite skill set to the table. Despite this, Hearn already has future plans in place for the 33-year-old Bivol, even in the event of a loss.
Eddie Hearn Already Eyeing Dmitry Bivol’s Next Opponent After Beterbiev Showdown
Hearn is already planning Bivol’s next move after his fight with Beterbiev, with a potential rematch against Canelo Alvarez in mind. If Bivol wins, the rematch could happen at 175 pounds for the undisputed light heavyweight title. If he loses, Hearn suggests the fight could take place at 168 pounds, as Bivol is capable of dropping down in weight. Hearn expressed his desire to make this rematch happen, depending on Canelo’s interest. He said,
“If Dmitry Bivol beats Artur Beterbiev, we have the opportunity to do Dmitry Bivol against Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed light heavyweight world championship, If Dmitry were to lose, he could drop down to 168 to challenge Canelo Alvarez, which he’s capable of doing. So, obviously, we want to see Dmitry win this fight, and if Canelo wants it, I would love to make that happen.”

Ultimately, the rematch depends on Canelo’s willingness to pursue it. In their first encounter, Bivol handed the Mexican star a notable defeat, securing the WBA interim light heavyweight title. However, Bivol’s upcoming bout with Beterbiev is shaping up to be one of the biggest fights of 2024.
