Ebanie Bridges may have won her last fight, but it came at a price.
The Australian boxing world champion revealed she suffered a nasty hand injury during her win over Shannon O’Connell last weekend. Bridges successfully defended her IBF bantamweight world title, securing victory via TKO after the referee stopped the fight in the eighth round.
The 36-year-old posted a photo on social media of her right hand looking extremely swollen.
“Booked in for surgery on my hand this Friday,” Bridges wrote in an Instagram story. “A lot of my camp was done with only one hand. A lot of my sparring only using my left hand. But there was no way I was pulling out of this fight because I knew I could batter her with one hand if needed and I wanted to. But now time to sort this.”
She had that surgery and then showed even more graphic photos of that procedure.

Bridges’ professional boxing record is now 9-1 and once she recovers from this injury, she will look to fight again in 2023. The feud between Bridges and O’Connell could wind up seeing them see a ring again in 2023 after their latest fight ended with O’Connell flipping off the crowd and hurling insults at both her opponent and fellow Australian Skye Nicolson at ringside.
For now, the Blonde Bomber will relax and recover.
