On April 20, boxer Ryan Garcia defeated the previously undefeated Devin Haney by majority decision. However, the New York State Athletic Commission later nullified Garcia’s win, ruling it a no-contest after the boxer tested positive for a banned substance. Recently, Garcia claimed that Devin Haney had requested DAZN to remove the video of his fight against Ryan Garcia. However, Haney has now come out to refute the allegation.
Did Devin Haney Ask to Remove Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney’s fight video?
Ryan Garcia’s victory over Devin Haney was clouded by controversy. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association reported that Garcia tested positive for the banned substance Ostarine, leading the New York State Athletic Commission to issue him a one-year suspension.
The bout was controversial, from the weigh-in, where Garcia missed weight, to the pre-fight antics by ‘King Ryan‘ and the failed drug test. Recently, Devin Haney denied accusations that he tried to persuade DAZN to remove highlights of his fight against Garcia. In response to an Instagram post by Garcia claiming DAZN had rejected Haney’s request to remove the video, Haney commented, “This is crap.”
Devin Haney, whose previously undefeated 31-0 record was reinstated after the commission declared Garcia’s win a no-contest, announced on social media that he plans to take an extended break from boxing to travel and enjoy his earnings.
Despite the allegations, Garcia insists on his innocence, claiming he has not used any banned substances. With a one-year suspension now in effect, the future of Garcia’s career is uncertain.
