After their recent boxing match, Oscar De La Hoya might have caught himself between Ryan Garci and Devin Haney.
Oscar De La Hoya had an illustrious career as a professional boxer, winning world titles in multiple weight classes from 1992 to 2008. His final results were 39 wins, including 30 KOs and six losses, and participation in some of his time’s most significant pay-per-view events.
At eighteen, Ryan Garcia signed with Golden Boy Promotions, which Oscar owned. The previous fighter had seen the young lightweight’s impressive performance in his Mexican debut bouts. He then signed with the former boxer after showing improvement in his following two fights.

Oscar De La Hoya: Devin Haney To Not Rematch Ryan Garcia
This past Saturday, “King Ryan” defeated Haney by an exciting majority decision, shocking the WBC super lightweight champion and coming dangerously close to multiple knockouts. Regretfully, Garcia’s spectacular performance was somewhat spoiled by an outrageous weight miss that disqualified him from winning Haney’s title.
Haney shared his first message on Instagram on Wednesday, the day he lost his perfect record. After pointing out the disparity in weight, he asked Garcia to do it again later on.

Although Haney expressed his gratitude to De La Hoya in the statement, the head of Golden Boy Promotions seemed unimpressed, responding that Garcia would not rechallenge Haney.
“Good luck with [Matchroom Boxing Chairman Eddie Hearn], but there will not be a rematch,” De La Hoya wrote. “Good luck in your career and with Eddie, a European promoter trying to make it in the U.S.”
But keeping their professional relationship aside, this hasn’t stopped Devin Haney from posting pictures in his Instagram story with Oscar De La Hoya, as he captioned it.
“ Running in my neighbourhood & look who I see playing golf”.
Additionally, Garcia has stated that a rematch with Haney is improbable. The 25-year-old intends to increase his weight and get out of the super lightweight class. He would even consider a crossover matchup with the UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley based on his social media activity.
