Rivalries are commonplace in combat sports. Whether it’s boxer versus boxer or boxer versus promoter, conflict is an ever-present element of the sport. Similarly, Devin Haney vs. Oscar De La Hoya has been quite a hot topic. The Golden Boy promoter has beef with many, including boxer Ryan Garcia and Gennadiy Golovkin. This time, he is on the radar of Devin Haney, who has accused him of unpaid dues.
Devin Haney Fires Back at Oscar De La Hoya with GGG Accusations
Oscar De La Hoya recently criticized Devin Haney on Instagram, calling him “pathetic” for celebrating his reversed decision in a bowling alley. He stated that no one will forget that he got badly beaten by Garcia. Not just that, he also denied Haney’s accusations of unpaid dues, claiming Haney “does not sell.”
Haney asserted that De La Hoya should pay him the remaining money owed, accusing him of trying to save face while pocketing the million Ryan Garcia has to pay. He also suggested that the Golden Boy promoter didn’t need the money and, therefore, shouldn’t take it. He also reminded that Gennadiy Golovkin had sued De La Hoya and won because he hadn’t been paid in full.
Golden Boy Promotions has also faced legal money-related accusations from boxing superstars earlier. In 2020, Alvarez sued them for breach of contract and left. Then GGG, and now, it seems Haney has joined this list.
