Deontay Wilder is in some serious trouble.
Deontay Wilder, the former WBC heavyweight world champion, was detained in Los Angeles after a routine traffic stop, according to a TMZ story.
According to law enforcement sources who spoke to the media outlet, LAPD police said that Wilder’s Rolls-Royce’s windows were illegally tinted and that his license plate was obscured when they stopped him over in Hollywood at around 1:15 in the morning.
In the midst of the traffic stop, cops say they smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from his vehicle — so they searched the car. TMZ stated officers allegedly found weed and a 9mm handgun in the vehicle, and put Wilder into custody.
The report says the 6-foot-7 fighter was cooperative and friendly throughout the whole ordeal.
Ultimately, the 37-year-old was booked on a charge of possession of a concealed weapon. Jail records show he bonded out at 6:34 AM.

Wilder has been out of action since last October, when he demolished Robert Helenius in one round. Wilder is 43-2-1 over his career, with both losses and the draw coming in a trilogy against Tyson Fury.
The 2008 Olympic bronze medalist held the WBC heavyweight title for five years, and defended it 10 ties.
There is heavy talk that Wilder could potentially face former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua at the end of the year in the Middle East.
