Ebanie Bridges’ run as the IBF bantamweight champion came to a shocking end, but the weekend initially started out great for the former champ.
As part of the Devin Haney vs Regis Prograis undercard in San Francisco, Bridges came up against Yoshida in a battle defending her IBF bantamweight world title. Yoshida was a late replacement opponent for Bridges and she was a heavy underdog.
Bridges had received backing from former UFC two-weight world champion, Conor McGregor, in the build-up for the fight.
Bridges went viral while promoting Conor McGregor’s Forged Irish Stout beer at the weigh-ins as she wore some sexy lingerie.
The Japanese underdog landed the cleaner punches and out-worked Ebanie Bridges to upset the defending IBF bantamweight champion as she was awarded a comfortable unanimous decision win, moving her record to 17-4, with 0 KO’s. She had scores of 99-91, 99-91 and 97-93.

Soon after the bout, fans would take to social media and blame Conor McGregor for Bridges’ lackluster performance.
Bridges, a high school math teacher by day, and a boxer by night, hadn’t been in the ring since last December. Yoshida faced Shurretta Metcalf just last month for the vacant IBF Inter-continental female bantamweight title but was unsuccessful.
Bridges is 9-2 with four KOs. The 37-year-old has now lost the IBF bantamweight championship she won when she beat Maria Roman unanimously in March 2022 in England.
