Canelo Alvarez reminded everyone that he is the best super middleweight boxer in the world by completely dominating the previously undefeated Caleb Plant in their title fight this evening. Canelo controlled the action in the ring and he was finally able to put his opponent away in the 11th round after knocking him down a couple of times.
After knocking Plant down for the first time in his career, Canelo didn’t give his challenger a change to regroup, pouncing on a wounded Plant to finish off the fight.
With the victory, Canelo retains the WBA, WBC, WBO and The Ring super middleweight titles, while also taking home the IBF super middleweight title. His record improves to 57-1-2 on his career, as he continues to establish himself as one of the all-time greats.
As for Plant, he suffers the first loss of his career, bringing his record to 21-1. Credit to him for hanging in there, but he was clearly outmatched by Canelo’s incredible power.
