Isiah Jones, who appeared on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Callum Smith undercard in 2020, was shot and killed in Detroit. He was just 28 years old.
NYFights reported that Jones’ brother, Timothy Lyman, is accused of killing Jones. That outlet further reported that the incident was allegedly prompted by a squabble over $50.
“I instantly broke down in tears and was hurt,” his trainer Roshawn Jones said. “It’s a tragedy for it to happen like that.”
“Isaiah was a hardworking individual. He was determined,” Roshawn Jones said. “He was strong. He was a great father.”
Isiah Jones was a 2016 Golden Gloves National Champion. Roshawn Jones says he leaves behind two kids. Both Roshawn Jones and neighbors said it was Isiah Jones’s brother who shot him during an argument.
Lyman was arrested Wednesday.
