Floyd Mayweather’s horrible year continues with yet another death close to him.
It was reported on Tuesday that boxer Danny Gonzalez has died after being shot at a Labor day picnic. TMZ Sports reports the 22-year-old was just hanging out with family when someone approached the fighter and opened fire.
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather had big hopes for Gonzalez, signing him to Mayweather Promotions back in 2016. At the time, Gonzalez was only 18 years old.
“We are very sad to report the tragic death of boxer Danny Gonzalez who was shot and killed during a Labor Day picnic. We send our deepest condolences and prayers to the Gonzalez family at this time.”
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman commented on the killing of Gonzalez:

Floyd praised Danny’s “incredible amateur record” of 96-13 … and called him a “force to be reckoned with!”
