During Saturday night’s boxing match between Danny Garcia and Ivan Redkach, we got ourselves into a bit of a Mike Tyson situation.
Boxer Ivan Redkach, who lost the fight via a unanimous decision, could be seen taking a bite out of Danny Garcia’s shoulder in the eighth round while the pair were tussled in a clinch.
The bite wasn’t seen by refs, but it did not deter Garcia from winning the bout, with judges scoring the contest 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111 in Garcia’s favor.
After the fight, Garcia said that his Ukrainian foe referred to Iron Mike Tyson when he bit him.
‘He bit me,’ Garcia said. ‘He said, ‘Mike Tyson,’ when he bit me. I said, ‘Ref, he bit me.’ I thought I needed stitches or something.”
