Billy Joe Saunders may have thought he was making a hilarious video, but it has gotten him in big trouble now.
The British Boxing Board of Control has effectively suspended the WBO super-middleweight champion after he released a disgusting video on how he was teaching men to engage in domestic violence against their wives or girlfriends while under coronavirus quarantine.
Saunders could be seen telling men what to do if their wives approach him as he punches a bag several times.
Saunders’ promoter, Eddie Hearn, was not happy.
“I was appalled really. It was so idiotic, it was so frustrating because I know Billy well. It’s one step forward, four steps back with Billy Joe Saunders. It’s unacceptable for Joe Bloggs down the street to do it. It’s much more unacceptable for a world champion boxer to be doing it,” Hearn told Talk Sport.
“Young people are watching that video. People who are in abusive relationships are watching that video. You cannot do it, it’s unacceptable.”
He has since apologized for his actions, but deleted his Twitter account altogether.

“I would never condone domestic violence and if I saw a man touch a woman I would smash him to pieces myself,” Saunders said in a post on Twitter. “Apologies if I offended any women, stay blessed.”
Saunders had been scheduled to fight the Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez in May, but the contest was postponed due to the pandemic.
