Joshua and Dubois Eye September Showdown as Eddie Hearn Prepares Major Announcement
Anthony Joshua is set to return for the Riyadh Season event at Wembley on September 21st, marking his second fight of the year. Earlier, on March 8, he dominated Francis Ngannou at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena, winning within two rounds.
A victory over Daniel Dubois could potentially secure Joshua the interim IBF heavyweight title, positioning him to become a world champion for the third time, provided Oleksandr Usyk vacates his title.
Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, has confirmed that negotiations are underway. Dubois secured the IBF ‘interim’ title by defeating Hrgovic, positioning himself as the likely next mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk has asked the IBF not to strip his belt, aiming to keep the undisputed title intact for his rematch with Tyson Fury on December 21.
Anthony Joshua is on a four-fight winning streak and a two-time unified world champion. He has made a strong comeback after losing his titles to Usyk in consecutive defeats, achieving three stoppages in these four victories.
Similarly, Dubois has rebounded with two wins since his failed attempt to dethrone Usyk in August 2023. Attention will be focused on the June 26th press conference. Where the full Riyadh Season Card for the September 21st event at Wembley will be announced.
