The 2022 MLB Draft is currently taking place in Los Angeles. It began on Sunday and all 20 rounds will not be completed until Tuesday.
A number of sons of former players have been chosen so far—with Jackson Holliday, son of former Major Leaguer Matt Holiday, going first overall. The second pick was Druw Jones, whose father Andruw spent 17 seasons in the big leagues.
The son who has been getting the most attention so far has been Mason McGwire, the son of former A’s and Cardinals slugger Mark.
Ironically, it was the Cubs who selected Mason in the eighth round after his father spent many years as a player and coach for Chicago’s biggest rival in St. Louis.
Despite spending several years booing and hating his father, some Cubs fans seem excited to have Mason join their organization, while others are having mixed emotions about the selection.
