Marcus Davenport is having a very unique offseason.
In addition to undergoing surgery on his right shoulder, the New Orleans Saints defensive end told reporters Wednesday that he had the top part of his left pinky finger amputated because of an infection that stems from a college injury.
Davenport is at the Saints’ facility for mandatory minicamp, but he has not practiced yet because of his injuries.
Davenport was limited to 11 games last season. He was still good enough to register career highs of 39 total tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie contract. His health will play a major role in him getting that next big contract.
