Last month, Kyle Van Noy signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chargers staged another media availability during organized team activities Tuesday and their new guy had something to say.
Speaking with the local media for the first time since joining the Chargers, Van Noy seemed to throw shade towards his former head coach Bill Belichick while praising his new head coach.
“I’ve been a fan of him for a while,” Van Noy said. “He’s a good person too. … It’s refreshing to have a young coach with his mindset to lead a team and to be around him and really, truly feed off that.”
He also spoke on the environment in Los Angeles.
“I like this environment,” he said. “I’m ready for it. It’s new and it’s refreshing, for sure. There’s a time and place from every environment. I think that was good for me when I was [early] in my career and needed those things. Where I’m at in my career now, this is where I’m supposed to be.”
Van Noy said he won’t force any Super Bowl-winning wisdom on his new teammates.

“I think you’ll be able to pick your spots when you say stuff,” he explained. “But, at the end of the day, it comes with your work ethic and gaining the trust of coaches and players and just working.”
He later added: “I’m a big believer in practice what you preach. So you gotta do it first before you start preaching.”
From 2016 to 2019, Van Noy had his career-best seasons, and recorded 248 total tackles in 51 games. He also won two Super Bowls.
Van Noy spent 4½ seasons with New England, starting 53 of the 67 games in which he played. Eleven of his 12 playoff games have come with the Patriots.
He is coming off a season in which he had 66 tackles and five sacks. He played 81% of the Patriots’ defensive snaps.
