Tennessee Vols fans are not happy.
On the first possession of vertime, the Tennessee Vols elected to not go for a field goal on fourth down and it hurt them badly as they were stopped and turned the ball over on downs….or did they.
Refs claimed forward progress was stopped on a run play, but the whistle came after the running back extended the ball over the line.
The booth eventually stated that the whistle was irrelevant to the actual play after it was already ruled that his forward progress was stopped.
Purdue would go on to kick the game winning field goal.
