It appears that Cris Collinsworth won’t be going anywhere no time soon.
Collinsworth and NBC are discussing a contract extension that would pay him somewhere near $12.5 million per year, Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reports.
Collinsworth reportedly wanted the proverbial “bag” in light of Tony Romo’s massive 10-year, $180 million deal.
His reported new deal is nowhere near what Romo got, but it definitely good money and keeps him in the 16-time Emmy Award winner in the upper echelons of sports broadcasting.
As far as his partner Al Michaels’ contract expires after this year’s Super Bowl. NBC reportedly has a plan of having Mike Tirico take over for Michaels as the full-time play-by-play voice on Sunday nights starting in 2022.

The 77-year-old might then be asked to take a reduced role where he would call a select few games throughout the season.
