It’s been over 10 years since Michael Vick pleaded guilty for his involvement in a dog-fighting ring and spent 21 months in federal prison. Yet, there are still a large amount of people that will never forgive him for what he did.
Last week, the NFL announced that Pro Football Hall of Famers Terrell Davis, Darrell Green, Bruce Smith, and “NFL Legend” Vick will serve as 2020 Pro Bowl Legends Captains. The news came with a bunch of controversy.
Thousands of activists are banding together online and calling for the NFL to strip Vick of the honor.
Petition, “Do Not Allow Michael Vick to Be Honored at the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl” surfaced and it has over 150K signatures.
“Just saw this on Facebook and was absolutely disgusted. When is the NFL going to take any responsibility for the behavior of it’s current and former players? To honor a man who had zero regard for animals is unacceptable and I would like your help to make sure he is NOT honored at the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl.”
Petition, “Stop Mike Vick from being Pro Bowl Captain” is also well represented with over 130K signatures.
“Mike Vick does not deserve the honor of being Pro Bowl Captain. He is a convicted felon and a known animal abuser, is this who we want our children to look up to? Disney, how could you condone this?? There are so many players that have made amazing contribution to society, however Michael Vick is not one of them.”
