Former Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles hasn’t played a down of football since October 2018, and although he hasn’t officially stated he’s retiring from the game, he truly believes he’s done enough to warrant a hall of fame nod.
The 3rd-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008 would be eligible for the HOF in 2024 if he doesn’t play anymore football right now.
“I mean, some of my numbers look way better than some people already in Canton,” Charles told TMZ. “I think what’s gonna definitely haunt me is not winning a Super Bowl but I hope that people can see what type of person I was from playing football, on the field and off the field.”
Charles averaged 5.38 yards per carry over the course of his 11-year career, which is astoundingly the best for any RB in the history of the NFL.
“That tells you what type of player I was,” Charles added. “I gave it my all. Every time I touched the ball, I averaged six yards a carry basically.”
The 32-year-old running back was asked by TMZ if he had any plans of lacing his cleats back up like Jason Witten did when he returned to the Cowboys.
“It’s in the air right now,” Charles said. “I’m going to sit down my family and still try to go through the process and see what’s the right thing for me and us.”

Despite the four-time Pro Bowler’s five seasons with 1000+ rushing yards, he has six seasons where he never reached 400 rushing yards.
