Back in April, ESPN analyst Pat McAfee had quite the reaction to the report about the Worldwide Leader’s pursuit of Drew Brees and making an eight-figure offer to the New Orleans Saints quarterback.
McAfee has been mentioned by fans as a potential candidate for the gig. He does analyst work for ESPN while hosting a popular podcast. It looks like he might be getting his wish.
According to a report from Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, ESPN is considering four internal employees for their Monday Night Football coverage.
“At the top of the list are football analysts Louis Riddick and Dan Orlovsky, “SportsCenter” anchor-turned announcer Steve Levy, and former punter and fast-rising media personality Pat McAfee. Like nearly every company, ESPN and parent Disney have been hurt financially by the pandemic.”
Like much of the country, ESPN will be forced to cut costs to deal with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has stopped sports in its tracks. That means, the company will be rolling with a broadcast team that’s already employed at ESPN.
